Happy Thanksgiving

thanksgiving-cornucopia

The smell of turkey cooking mingled with the sounds of my grandmother and mom arguing over how to best make dinner are some of my fondest memories of Thanksgiving. Plates of holiday cookies and cakes stacked beside deviled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, cheese platters and pimento spread ( a secret old family recipe) still make my mouth water. Eventually my dad would turn on the game and we would be greeted to him shouting at the television for several hours.

But the most important thing was the feast itself. It has to include; turkey, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams, gravy, rolls, fresh string beans and cranberry sauce.

I hope each and every one of you makes some wonderful memories to share with your friends and family today. And for those that aren’t able, don’t worry there is always next year.
